Climate school in Saxony
At the Freie Waldorfschule Dresden, we want to create more time and space for climate-friendly topics. We want to do more to show what can be done to combat climate change.
These are our motivation and goals:
- Future-relevant topics such as climate protection, sustainable development, participation and democracy should be made a lived and tangible school culture. With a profile as a "Climate School Saxony", these topics are anchored sustainably, profoundly and holistically at the school with greater commitment - whether in lessons, in teacher training or in school life.
- With a holistic view of all areas of school activities, the 17 global goals for sustainable development are not only taught as knowledge across all subjects or worked on in a solution-oriented manner in projects, but are also implemented through practical action in everyday school life, in the canteen as well as on the way to school. Pupils experience self-efficacy, learn democratic participation and strengthen their design and action skills for a challenging present and future.
- Democratic-participative processes and discourses are activated and strengthened at school, which promote students' self-efficacy, personal responsibility, participation and political decision-making. Pupils learn democracy when they shape and co-determine their living environment.
By acquiring the necessary knowledge and qualifications to promote sustainable development, including through education for sustainable development, learners should be enabled to shape their own lives, their environment and society responsibly in terms of ecologically, politically, socially and economically sustainable development.
