Our school has been very actively involved in many sustainability issues for a long time.
It supports pupils from the outset in developing independence and personal confidence, initiative and a sense of social responsibility - important qualities that are necessary for the transformative process and the achievement of sustainability goals.

The Climate and Sustainability Working Group was founded to show the school community the numerous practical starting points for planning and implementing measures for a better climate and more sustainability in concrete terms and on site. To this end, new findings and methods from the field of "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD) are to be made available.

The basic idea is to raise the awareness of the school community in the areas of sustainable development and climate protection. To this end, we took the lead in submitting the application to become a"Climate School in Saxony" and carry out small and large-scale projects.

Here is a selection:

  • vegan offers in the school canteen,
  • clothes exchange,
  • collection point for used electronic devices,
  • Support for the installation of solar panels on the school's roofs,
  • Public relations work in the school committees,
  • regular meetings of our AG,
  • Teaching offers for the classroom,
  • Participation in the co2ero initiative of Waldorf schools in Germany,
  • Networking with actors at other schools and institutions,
  • knowledge transfer,
  • participation in urban climate measurement projects,
  • mobility and much more.

Our activities are aimed at the entire school community. With a holistic approach and various methods, we want to reach many people. We try to offer varied and attractive activities and thus encourage people to become active in different ways. We also want our target groups to be able to explore new content and contexts both personally and as part of a community.

Our aim is for people to be so well informed and educated that sustainable action determines the main activities in their lives. Sustainability and climate protection are perceived as positive and natural components of thought and action, not as hindering or inconvenient factors. In 2030, it may not just be our school that is climate-neutral, but all schools in Saxony. They will also be places of holistic education, in which positive self-perception and self-efficacy as well as knowledge of complex interrelationships will be the main driving factors.
